Devastation in Moore, OK

On May 20, 2013 an EF5 tornado ripped through the heart of Moore, OK taking at least 24 lives and injuring hundreds more. Additionally, there were over a thousand homes damaged or destroyed and many business too. Our deepest sympathies go out to those who have lost so much as a result of this tragedy.

Among the businesses destoryed was our Van's Pig Stand located at 516 SW 4th Street. As you can see from the photograph, the building was completly destroyed. The good news is that our employees who were in the restaurant at the time the tornado hit managed to walk away without a scratch. After hunkering down in the bathroom, they emered shaken and scared, but physically uninjured.

Many people are asking if we will rebuild. The property is leased and so as of this writing, our exact future is uncertain. However, we can say that we WILL open another store in Moore. We don't know yet where or when. Keep an eye on this page and our Facebook Page for more details.

In the meantime, if you are craving some Van's Barebecue and the Moore store was your location, you can still get the same great food from one of our 3 other locations. The closest to Moore is located at 320 N. Porter St in Norman. The phone number for the Norman store is 405-364-0600.
